Oyster Catcher is a mare born in 2015, she measures 147 cm (14’2) and is a pure bred Connemara pony with a green book. She is also a full sister to Isichia, a very good jumping pony that was exported to Sweden earlier this year.
Revisiting the breeding of these fabulous sisters it is quite obvious where the jumping comes from. The sire, Derrymore Duncan is a stunning stallion by Smokey Duncan who in turn go back to Carna Bobby on both sides. The occurrence of Carna Bobby usually tells you there will be jumping ability in the pony. And for this girl, this is definitely the case. Oh boy can she jump!
This pony is just the loveliest you can get! She wants to learn, it just all comes natural to her. She has just started to jump whole courses of fences and she just simply gets it all at once. The is no problem with height, she has got both the courage and the ability to jump over the moon, you aim – she jumps.
Oyster Catcher jumping
Oyster Catcher has three lovely paces and a scopey and technically very good jump. She is used to both showjumps of varying looks including water jumps, banks, fillers etc and cross country jumps. She happily jumps around everything, including water complexes.
Her temperament is just lovely, she is soo kind and level headed, does not mind to go anywhere and keeps her calm in new places. She is though a machine to jump and has a competitive head.
In the stable
Oyster Catcher is a dream to care for, she loves everything! Grooming, washing, clipping, loading, shoeing it is all absolutely easy as one two three! She does also enjoy the company of loved ones (especially those with treats in their pockets) and will come to you in the field.
Oyster Catcher
Future
We believe that Oyster Catcher is one of those ponies that will go on to do top level competition if she is paired up with a keen rider. She will excel at showjumping but would also be a fabulous event pony.
