Horses and ponies that has done well
Over the years many horses and ponies have passed through our yard. Looking back there has been some seriously successful ones. Success comes in many ways, of course there are the horses and ponies that again and again figure as winners at big events there are also some that has made their owners proud and happy in other ways just by being exactly who they are. Come with us on the ever evolving journey through time to look back at some of the achievements and fab moments that makes us who we are today. We are proud to present and share our feelgood moments.
We also would like to point out that this space is for you! Our main delight is to hear customers talk about their love for their ponies and horses. There are few things in life that makes me as happy as when one of “our” ponies or horses has made the day for their owner. If you have a story to tell about a horse or pony you have had from us please let us know.
Galway Brigade
The chestnut mare with lots of attitude and an ability to jump over the moon. Ridden by our very own superstar rider Martin Hynes she competed successfully at top national level. She has now retired to stud and in her first year 2019, she brought us a fantastic filly foal. We are so looking forward to see her grow up.
So Elusive
So Elusive was competed by Martin Hynes in Ireland and was then sold to the US where she is very successful at the very top level of showjumping with winning rounds in amongst others Tyron and Spruce Meadows.
Barnaboy Freeman
Born and bred at The Barnaboy stud, Barnaboy Freeman has remained at home. He competed successfully up to 3* eventing with Cathal Daniels. A truly Irish sport horse that combines courage with ability and a kind temperament.
Drop the Subject
Superstar for real!!!! Winner (team) at the 2016 European Championships for the United Kingdom with very competent rider Anna Kolleth in the saddle. Drop the subject then changed rider and managed to get a reserve spot on the team GB squad for the Europeans in 2018 with Georgia King.
Touchy Subject
Touchy Subject came to u as a young pony and we quickly realised he was something special. He cleared fences much bigger that would ever be expected of him as a competitive pony with tremendous ease. This pony competed at 110 level with us and despite his young age he was a perfect companion for less experienced riders. We all knew this pony was destined for bigger things and was sold to Norway. It has turned out to be a match made in heaven. He has currently got winnings and placings up to 125 level.
Rhystyd Olivia
With her not being up to height this is a pony that many would pass by. By doing that they truly missed a fighter and a pony who could jump the very biggest tracks with ease! By chance she ended up with Swedish youngster Daisy Pearson (who is now doing really well on horses). They instantly formed a miracle bond, their career just went one way and that way was up. The cherry on top was a 2nd place in the Swedish Championships.
Gamble on Diamond
The true gentleman who helped them all jump high. Gamble on Diamond is the most perfect confidence giver for riders aiming to jump big fences. He is a grade A show jumper in his own right and has jumped the very biggest of tracks. Winning round in County Clare Show Puissance with Martin Hynes.
He was exported to Sweden where he was competed by Claes Brudefors. After some years in Sweden he came back to Ireland where he was successful with Jessica Burke up to 140cm level.
Gamble on Diamond has also bred some lovely horses. He has now been sold to Mexico where he is used as a stud stallion whilst competing at a lower level.
Black Jack
The Welsh pony cross thoroughbred who brought his rider all the way to the Swedish Championships (11th). This pony is one of those “pony of a lifetime” ones.
Pocahontas
Sometimes ponies end up in the very right place. Pocahontas is one of them. Poca was the kind pony with exceptional jumping technique but she had her size against her. I advertised her as a riding school pony knowing that her kind temperament would suit. Thankfully Olivia saw past her size and they made some real magic together.
Apache Brave
Another pony this time showjumping. An illustrious career including qualifying for HOYS pony show jumper of the year with James Ingram and is now competing successfully with Aimie Mason in the Scottish Pony Performance League.
Kilmore Mickey D
This pony has done sensationally well in Norway. Jumping at national level. Kilmore Mickey D is by the pure Connemara stallion Kilmore Diamond who has thrown a lot of offspring well able to jump. This pony has a full brother in Lissduff Cool Customer, we are excited to see what he will do in the showjumping ring.
Killomoran Lady
This pony also ended up in Norway. She jumped together with Hannah Nyhaug at the very top of Norwegian Pony Jumping and they shared great success.
The list goes on! There are so many more…..
